Pepsin - a proteolytic enzyme in gastric juice, formed from pepsinogen produced in the gastric mucosa. This reaction only occurs in an acidic environment.
Betaine - contributes to the proper metabolism of homocysteine. The beneficial effect occurs when consuming 1.5 g of betaine daily. The source of betaine is also wheat germ and beetroot. Betaine, or trimethylglycine, was first discovered in sugar beets, and it is named after the Latin name ( Beta Vulgaris ).
It is an organic chemical compound that belongs to the great group of betaines. TMG is a derivative of glycine - the simplest protein amino acid, belonging to the group of 20 standard protein amino acids. Its form is a white, crystalline powder with a melting point of about 240oC, non-toxic even at high concentrations, perfectly soluble in water, and in the stomach resembles the action of hydrochloric acid (HCL).
