Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a mushroom that grows primarily on birch and poplar trunks. Its fruiting bodies are used to obtain extracts standardized for polysaccharides and beta-glucans . It has been valued for centuries for its properties, although growing on trees acts as a parasite and eventually leads to their death. It can be found throughout the Northern Hemisphere , including Poland, where it is rare and partially protected.
